Is RFID Hot Enough for Metals

Posted February 16, 2008 7:51 AM

Using RFID throughout process control is nice to have. It works in parts location and tracking, improves safety through reduced human intervention, and adds real-time process control information. Will RFID make much difference in metal production? Are the benefits worth its use and hardening of its electronics for demanding foundry operations? Does RFID technology have a vital place in the pressure-cooker environment of metals production? What other new areas of manufacturing could benefit from RFID?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Metals & Alloys, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Metals & Alloys today.
