CPP Films: A Processing Alternative

Posted March 05, 2008 8:20 AM

When a material has potential to save time and money by eliminating a processing step, chances are it will improve its own marketability. Such is the case of cast polypropylene film, used in both packaging and non-packaging applications. A potential substitute for biaxially oriented polypropylene, CPP uses less energy, less downtime, and more flexibility in production, according to Modern Plastics Worldwide. Add to that a stiffness for processing at a lower melt-flow rate and metallizing properties that allow it to skip the lamination process and it's no wonder the film has gained attention. Now, with wider dies and more multichannel dies available, do CPP films play a role in your processing methods?
