APIX Pilot Plant Design Project – Recycling Wastes

The Agro-Polymer Industry Complex (APIX) Pilot Plant is an Open Source engineered set of designs for an integrated and interrelated techno-commercial processing system for farming co-operatives and small communities.

The entire biomass generated by any form of agriculture or vegetation system can be converted into energy producing products, processed foods, fertilizers and marketable polymer composite products.

The purpose is to provide modular designs and methods suitable for the installation and safe operation. All possible efforts will be made to utilize the limited resources of the local community and the unskilled or semi-skilled persons, most in need of economic opportunity.

APIX-SEP Pilot Plant_New Paradigm

Posted April 16, 2008 7:55 AM by pvhramani

Hello Friends

1. Although our APIX Pilot Plant Design Project has not yet been brought to fruition, due to various reasons, the real NEED for our Pilot Plant has never been so practically viewed until now, when the ever ebullient and "no nonsense" manilaman started prospecting for Industrial Energy Projects for the Tropical far east nation Philippines.

2. A serious level interaction with him through his various threads:

http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/19792

http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/19794

http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/20153

... has convinced me about the following:

(a) We NEED to look at the REALITY of situations in the developing world (countries such as India, Indonesia, Philippines, South Africa, Pakistan ...)

(b) While each nation, including India, do have certain nationally proscribed agendas on Energy security, it is observed that "solutions" to energy problems are being resorted to without taking into consideration the REAL Renewable Resources available locally. For example, although India, Philippines, Indonesia ... have excellent rainfall and huge vegetation resources, entrepreneurs who wish to go for Energy related businesses do not seem to have recognized this real potential. This is because of the great "marketing thrust" being resorted to by "other" interested groups to sell their wares and schemes. For example, in the case of manilaman there is a shortcoming that we are NOT able to convince him of the FACT/ TRUTH that APIX-SEP Energy systems would be the most optimum arrangement for any type of Industry in Philippines.

(c) I have come to recognize one new paradigm here (something chtank has been continually reminding us). It pertains to the fact that Energy and Process systems Modules could be Optimized to a certain level such that the unit could be "added on" for increased production/ volumes. Additionally, such a concept would help in easier manufacture, transportation, erection, maintenance etc. While at the Composites Front we are already designing such a system, which would be presented in the Open Forum as soon as the Designs are ready, the energy system also needs to be brought down to such level.

(d) Discusssions engaged into with manilaman through the various threads as aforementioned indicate the following:

# The smallest Energy Module could be based on an Electric Power generation of 65 KWe to 75 KWe; the system would also have CHP heat availability to the tune of about 1.5 million K-cal per day (additional).

# The Renewable Resource needs (by way of vegetation/ agro-bigenics/ animal matter) would be 1/35th of the 1000 ha system that we would design in the long range plan.

# Entrepreneurs and Other Institutions/ Industries would have to be educated on the advantages of APIX-SEP, based on Optimized modules.

Members and interested personnel are requested to come forward with their own studies/ observations and further comments on the different aspects/ data presented here

Given your APIX-SEP Solution, I await its calculated "Carbon Credits" as applied to my Case Study # 1 and Case Study # 2 - the sooner, the better. Thanks.

Inasmuch as we are still grappling with the REAL Carbon Credit potentials in APIX-SEP systems/ processes, it would be appropriate to clarify more aspects of the DEPTH of APIX-SEP, from the point of view of "GREEN" products. There are certain BONUSES in our APIX-SEP methane gas based energy projects:

THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONAL GREEN PRODUCTS:

1. RECYCLED BIO-FERTILIZER (Off-setting need for "rotation of crops")
2. RECYCLED WATER (Off-setting need for drawing water from Town/ Municipal supplies)
3. RECYCLING STEEL for Iron/ Steel production (Off-setting need to draw that much from fossils and non-renewables)
4. GREEN SULFUR for GREEN SULFURIC ACID
5. RECYCLING BURNT CO2 TO BE CONVERTED TO CaCO3, to be used for "GREEN" CEMENT (off-setting need to reduce mining of Calcium from Dolomite Mines.)

NOTE: In case we plan for more ALL ROUND Production set up, we also would have Alternate Petrochemicals and Engineered Products ... all of which would be GREEN Products. Further, as we do not attempt any so-called hybridization and "over engineering" the cost of APIX-SEP plants would be far lower than any competing systems.

If we were to optimally compute the CARBON CREDITS, it would be possible to do so on the basis of the TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF THE FOSSIL FUELS by our GREEN FUEL. Thus, the value of Carbon Credit would be the equivalent of the CO2 generated when the ORIGINAL Fossil fuels were being burnt in the Plant that would be replaced by our unit.

The Modular System to be designed on the basis of the Agro-Biogenics available in a farm/ village area of 1000 Ha to 1200 Ha is presented below:

Thus, an APIX-SEP_1000 Energy Plant would be a set of three equivalent Modules of the subunit as shown in th illustration here, above. Each sub-unit would be designed @ one-third the total system based on Agro-biogenics in 1000 Ha to 1200 Ha. These could be the Optimum Module for Tropical nations with rainfall above 1200 mm. It is felt that such Modules could be designed for Assembly at the local areas, from a "knock-down" condition, easy to be transported and finally assembled. It would also help in "outsourcing" the construction of the designed components to the most advantageous vendor world wide, such that the ultimate cost and transportations are minimal. The construction methods are also being designed for "maximum GREEN" effect, so that the energy/ materials use in the components are minimal. The final Energy Plant would have an added CHP "Ready Made" unit (per subunit), which could be "bought-out" systems.

(NOTE: The Energy units would Scrub/ Use all of the CO2, H2S and Moisture/ Water, including the CO2 that comes out of the exhaust, thereby creating not only a Total Green system but recycling almost all materials in a "Self Regenerative Recycling" arrangement, finally resulting in ZERO-WASTE ZERO-CARBON BUSINESS MODEL)
