A few minutes with Covergence

Recently CompactPCI and AdvancedTCA Systems spoke with Ken Kuenzel, Founder, VP of Engineering and CTO, Covergence, and with Covergence VP Marketing, Rod Hodgman.

Q. Please introduce us to Covergence.

Rod: Covergence is a 4-year old company. We were started initially to supply an appliance to the enterprise market to secure, control, and monitor Voice over IP and Unified Communications (UC) traffic – all real-time traffic based on SIP and RTP protocols.

In those four years as we have developed product, it became evident to us that the technology existed for us to move off of our appliance onto other products such as the AdvancedTCA chassis and the IBM BladeCenter. And we have even moved farther – to package our software up as a virtual appliance running inside a virtual machine, capable of running on any x86 hardware....
