Reinventing the Economy's Wheel

Posted February 17, 2009 8:20 AM

The global economic downfall has not spared the plastics processing industry. In the European Union, the EuPC has lobbied the European Commission for a slice of the proposed financial support for the auto industry to be directed to plastic converters. The argument follows that processors mark an important role both in the automotive supply chain and in the EU's component-making skilled positions.

Should the European plastic conversion industry pin its hopes on an automakers' stimulus plan to keep afloat?

Interesting trends have emerged from the decline of global economies.aAs understood by all, with the slowdown of automobiles, plastics also underwent a slowdown.

Acetonitrile is a by-product of polymer manufacture, it is widely used as a solvent. The cost of Acetonitrile following these developments underwent a major hike making some processes (in my case pharmaceuticals) completely unfeasible!

I wish the European Commission while thinking of actually dishing out a slice to the Plastics Industry, thinks of other allied industries like ours!
