Test equipment inevitably lags behind the products it aims to test. Testing always represents the classic 'Red Queen's Race' — engineers running as fast as they can just to stay even. The current economic climate makes buying new equipment and hiring staff unpopular solutions to the bottleneck building on the manufacturing floor. How much leeway do you have to spend company money? How well does your installed base of test equipment address your test challenges? How much of a 'defect unknown' pile is building up? How do you plan to reduce it?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Electronic Test Equipment, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Electronic Test Equipment today.
