Alliances for Conquest

Posted March 03, 2009 8:15 AM

With the economy uncertain and the cost of chip plants already in the billions, going it alone has become more expensive than most companies can tolerate. To survive, chip makers are finding ways to cooperate while they compete. Hence consortia like SEMI and the Collaborative Alliance for Semiconductor Test (CAST). Are you pooling resources and information with companies that would otherwise be your competitor? What do you contribute? What do you gain? Can the industry flourish without such efforts?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Semiconductor Fabrication, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Semiconductor Fabrication today.
