Is Wireless Video the Next Big Thing?

Posted June 13, 2009 7:20 AM

Wireless video is technically feasible, and it would certainly make it easier to install that new big screen. The technology is theoretically capable of transmission speeds of 25 Gbps, more than twice the 10.2 Gbps of wired HDMI v1.3. But will consumer pull be sufficient to spur vendors into making the investments necessary to perfect the technology?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Electrical Components, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Electrical Components today.

But it's HD TV, its got better resolution than real life! (and that really sucks up the available bandwidth)

The effect of the wireless world on human minds and health due to the various wave lengths need much study. It may be too late by the time scientists discover the truth.

I think fiber optic cable route would be the better option if possible.

I agree with the previous coment:

"The effect of the wireless world on human minds and health due to the various wave lengths need much study. It may be too late by the time scientists discover the truth."

Considering that most wireless devices developed are in the microwave band (HDTV doesnt actual figure very highly in exposure, unless you live next door to the transmitter). We have to reduce our exposure now, not when it gets to the point that our chocolate bars melt before our eyes!! Confine the microwaves to the oven as much as possible! Use wired and fiber optic cable phones and networks when possible.

that depends..........the human race may have to evolve or self destruct or should I say go extinct. It happens all the time, why are humans to be so different.

¿Wireless video? As I know it was invented in the 20s or 30s, all old TV sets were "wireless" video. JS
