Can A Home Skin Resurfacing Laser Be Safe?

People may soon be able to walk into a drug store and buy a do-it-yourself wrinkle removal laser, courtesy of a recent FDA approval. How can a laser be powerful enough to perform skin ablation, or even collagen tightening, and still be safe enough for home use (and misuse)? No word on wavelength, but it still smells like a lawsuit to me.

The fact remains it is a duty to get people every technology available, in a safe relaiable manner. It's a duty, and I'm personally happy to see something like this getting to the general public. That is if it can be proven completely safe and reliable.

With this design the laser will not ablate tissue. The only way to do this is to decrease the surface area of the fiber optic and initiate with some dark pigment... Can't happen, therefore no lawsuit. Just puttin' it out there...
