Playing Dice with the Weather

Posted August 03, 2009 8:05 AM

Man, in his eternal quest to control his environment, now has devised a plan that would stop hurricanes in their tracks. Cold seawater placed in their path should dilute the fury of these storms. But even if this admittedly far-out plan could be made to work, should it be implemented? Or might tampering with powerful natural phenomena like hurricanes cause unforeseen negative consequences to the world's climate?

The preceding article is a "sneak peek" from Power Generation & Distribution, a newsletter from GlobalSpec. To stay up-to-date and informed on industry trends, products, and technologies, subscribe to Power Generation & Distribution today.

I cannot see how it will be able to create enough of a difference to cause any significant change in the surface temperature to lower the evaporation rate that fuels storms. I believe in no god, so go ahead & spend Mr Gates money trying to prove a point.

Probably cause cooler weather. That's most likely not a good thing. How much power would it take?

We all know there's a God. Some just don't like to admit it.
