Thank you! I wonder if perhaps the particular installation that the Maintenance person saw had been built using a chain conveyor as the unloading mechanism from a grain dryer? He might not have any reason to know that they were of two separate origins, two manufacturers, etc., but only knew of how the final assembly was used. It could have been worse: the grain dryer might have been just one section of, say, a brewery, and you'd have been told that the part was used in making beer! The fact that an experienced miller knew what the part was for supports the possibility that chain conveyors may be used in grain handling equipment.
