Twenty-five years ago, I stick welded a trailer to haul my two motorcycles from California to Georgia. Ugly, ugly looking welds, but with good penetration. Still use it today. I had fun doing it as I have always enjoyed creating things with my hands. It is an outlet for me since they don't let engineers build anything at my company. They just let us make paper. I just bought a TIG welder so I can get back into the fun (it will also do stick). Plus, I have some repairs I should do to my travel trailer (caravan for those on the other side of the pond). Plus my 17 year old son is interested in welding as well and it could turn into a good career for him too as long as he gets schooled and the certs.
