Happy Earth Day!

04/22/2015 11:02 AM

Google has struck again! Today's feature is an interesting Doodle about Earth Day, following yesterday's Loch Ness monster. This Doodle is a quiz to help you find out which animal you are.

As it turns out, I am a komodo dragon.

Goat typically isn't on the menu at my house, so I'm not sure about the accuracy of this quiz. But it's fun!

Some of the questions asked whether I like to stay home or be out and about. Lately I've been at home, working on my property. I've picked up several bags of trash (including several dollars worth of bottles to return) from the roadside. And there's lots left to go! Next up will be planting some of the blue spruce trees my grandfather ordered.

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day? And which animal are you?

A wooly Mammoth

I guess so?

You're a woolly mammoth!

So unique, you're technically extinct, but on the bright side scientists hope to be able to clone you some day!

I wonder if Earth Day is officially listed in the Intergalactic Planetary Holidays Catalog?

I don't see the point of these special "feel good" days. Like the earth needs us to have to have an Earth Day especially considering it origins:

And this is posted in Sustainable Engineering...I don't think so.

Komodo Dragon it is! I've also been cleaning up the road sides around here as I go for my walks. I just stuff a garbage bag (bio-degradable thank you)into my pocket and when I see trash I start filling it up. Yup, got some returnable bottles too!

You're one of the very few that does that.

That is how I was raised!

From a young age, my parents taught me to PACK it in and PACK it out. It always seemed that we packed out more than we packed in when we went to the desert to go off-roading?

Nowadays, I can't keep up with the amount of trash I see on the streets of Las Vegas. There are so many cans and bottles on the side of the road that even the homeless guy in the desert by my house won't even pick them up to recycle them!?!? It's really sad when the homeless guy will walk past an aluminum can to go beg on the street divider for money! If people stopped giving the "homeless" their "spare" change and they need to live or eat, maybe they would take advantage of the system that we tax payers fund. and get help? But who knows?

The reason they are disheveled and dirty isn't because they are hungry, it's that they are using every nickle of that money you just handed them to go buy another "HIT" of crystal meth! I see it EVERY day!

I refuse to fund their drug habit with even a penny! (of which I see them pass over when there is a shiny penny on the ground) I will bend down and pick it up.

Enough of my tirade. Happy belated Earth Day!
