Hi there,
I am a third year mechanical engg. student who because of an overactive imagination and over-confidence has to do a project on a self centering stand for a bike (and bcoz am lazy i have only 2 weeks remainin to submit the report
).
I will explain it briefly...
It consists of basically two hydraulic booms, that are cotrolled by solenoid valve, that operates a pump, which pumps in fluid in to the booms, in order to vary its length accordingly.
Its use is mainly to balance the bike (any bike) at any level (unlike an ordinary stand, which will not balance the bike when the bike stands at a very steep angle).
In order to sense the angle of inclination of the bike, am planning to use a block that is guided by a bracket. The block will slide with the inclination of the vehicle. According to the position of the block, a sensor will be actuated, thereby operating the solenoid valve, so that the boom will be able to balance the bike.
Now comes the problem part. Though i have a vague idea of the mechanism, I do not have a clear cut idea on which mechanism to use, and so, am open to suggestions and theoretical material on different mechanisms that I can use to achieve the above effect.
I hope you guys understand my problem and can help me out in some way.
Thanx a lot for reading all this. Plz do reply !!
