Development of Materials

02/20/2016 12:34 PM

Using the periodic table, establish/characterize the development of materials based on the bonding systems available.

Answers will be appreciated.

Thanks.

You have got to be kidding. That would be almost an infinite exercise.

The bonding qualities of various combinations of materials do not relate closely at all to the periodic table. Somewhere in between are chemical bonding properties (e.g., ionic, covalent), but they aren't necessarily easy to relate to either.

Let's not forget the importance of hydrogen bonding, particularly in how this effects the folding of a protein.

Speaking of proteins and elements, did you know that all of the same elements found in a rib eye steak can be also found in the Zika, influenza, HIV and Polio virus.

We'll get right on that.

Now go play in the traffic, like a good boy, until we get the answer.

Read the rules and FAQs too.

It's my son's work. He needs the answer by Friday. He won't pass his course if he doesn't submit.

Let him fail.

Maybe he will learn something from that!!!

You should not help him, you will only be blamed for any and all problems....

Sounds to me like your child wants you to leave him alone. He already answered the actual question to the best of his abilities. Either he deliberately or you inadvertently twisted the actual question into something truly absurd. Clearly you, Hardarm09, do not see how the question you asked us is preposterous.

It's not like that. The teacher went out of the syllabus, so they haven't done anything in class regarding this topic. It's new to him

If the others have any sense, they should be going to the principal, to complain that the teacher is giving difficult homework assignments on topics not covered in the class.

Using a dictionary, write a proposal detailing what you need this for and how much you are willing to pay.

Re: Development of Materials

02/21/2016 7:45 AM

Homework or not, I, for one, would love to see the end result of such an effort...!

I am *no* kind of "professor", so, from that old "For what it's worth" department, my suggestion would be to ask the "instructor" on Monday for a bit of clarification, as to what is meant by: "bonding systems available".

Is he referring to that old {"periodic table reference"} ionic, covalent, metallic types of bonding? Or, is the field "wide open" so to speak, for every possible type of polymerization, soldering, braising, welding, adhesives, forging....(?!?)

I would liken my curiosity to that of John Travolta's character, in the movie "Phenomenon", wherein he asks his interrogator: "Let's be specific Bob..."

... anybody else, feel free to insert a hyperlink to a YouTube instance of that scene; it's a doggone bi*ch trying to achieve such a thing working only on an iPhone...<wink>

I like the braising in the list, but is that not cooking the answer?
