Automobile Security System? Not So Much.

06/07/2016 3:59 PM

We've talked about this.

Mitsubishi Outlander hacked through in-car WiFi

I'm all for making things as complicated and wonderful as possible, but is technology really the answer to everything?

No, but it keeps a lot of people busy, and gives the rest something to complain about...

I think it depends on how much you want the NSA and the rest of the world to know about you. All this "new technology" opens the world up to you, good and bad.

Anything that uses the internet can be and will be hacked. I'd prefer not to share any or all my personal info. with face book, my space, tweeter, google and the list goes on. If the hackers don't attack your account, all the fore-mentioned will sell you out for pennies!

Thanks, but no thanks!

Typical dumb-headed geek response.

Oh, the software in our system has bugs that render it a risk to all.

Let's write lots more buggy software and totally corrupt it. Of course, that'll require a $1,000.00 system memory and operating system upgrade.

Because you'll need to "isolate access points to devices and systems that are used by the public as much as you would with secure private systems such as bank accounts or personal medical records," says cyber security expert Mark Skilton of Warwick Business School.

"Secondly, the lack of an audit and professional checking of these systems by manufacturers is more an issue of corporate incompetence when basic mistakes such as poor WiFi set-up and a lack of resilience in encryption procedures have not been followed," he says

We are creating monsters instead of solving problems (that didn't exist in the first place).

The fun starts when some hacker creates an armada of driverless cars!

Soon all the cars will be autonomous and nobody will need a license, nobody will vote...Kids will be nurtured by nanny bots and teachers will be on every street corner peddling cheap chip implants with embedded skill sets on how to hack robots....Dogs and cats will have their own autonomous transportation system transporting them from party spot to party spot....Restaurants will be virtual reality experiences with all the looks and smells and tastes of good tasting food, but will in reality be healthy crap disguised in every way....Nobody will own anything, just rent...There will be groups of people living off grid, they will become the new indigenous people....

A great increase in the number of people with too much time on their hands, that means there will be a lot more hacking going on, correct¿¿ What else is one to do with leisure time? All these "modern conveniences" are not really convenient, just more things that can go wrong.

Here we have a $olution to a problem that should never have existed.

Automotive Security Software Seeks to Prevent Cyberattacks in the Connected Car

"Carwall software is integrated into an electronic control unit's software at the build, allowing it to be secure against any security bugs that may be realized or not."

No cost estimate is given for this, "must-have" addition to a system we never needed.

You remember the movie about remote viewing: "Suspect Zero"?

You also remember the protagonist Ben Kingsley asking the leading role Aaron Eckhart to "turn it off, turn it off, turn it all off"?

Rest assured, we all have our very own digital signatures out there in cyber world, and so do the terrorists, and the hackers. No one will be safe from being tracked down if they want you.
