Supercritical Thermal Power Project

09/15/2016 1:51 PM

Hello friends,

I would like to know the various construction sequences of 800MW Supercritical Green Field Power Project. If possible provide activities also. Like Activity Sequences requirement for completion of Boiler Hydro Test, Oil Fire Boiler Light Up, Coal Fire Boiler Light Up, Synchronization etc.

Thank You

Maybe this is a candidate subject of a 'For Dummies' book.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration for my post.

I am very new in power project. And I just want to know the sequences of system readiness (word "construction" is misinterpreted) for major milestones. No I don't want to know about any CIVIL related construction activities.

Yes sir, but your link did not give my answer.

I think my question is misinterpreted by many users. I just want to know what system should be ready for hydro test of boiler than boiler light up on oil and than boiler light up on coal. After all finally what systems should be ready for first turbine sychronisation.

This question exceeds what is possible to explain on CR4.

Have you considered going back to University for a specialised course or detailed online research yourself including obtaining all the codes and standards relating to the different procedures?

Is this general interest or does your new job involve building and commissioning power plants?

Thank you for asking, why do you ask? It goes up one module at a time these days, since nearly all boiler construction is modular in nature now, especially big bangers like this one you refer to.

I suspect the first step is about a two-year long process of site selection, followed by (these days) an even longer period of chasing permitting. Before construction ever begins, there is a mountain of work to overcome, this creates another entire mountain of paperwork, leading to a mountainous audit of the paperwork.

Every component of a system as this has to be vetted by the engineering team, cussed, and discussed, until there is general agreement (of at least the partners that matter). Failure to use the correct metal tubing coding, for example, in the boiler and still going ahead with construction will result in a complete and total failure of the project.

Lawyers...you left out lawyers.

Nothing starts until the construction company is sued by the investor's lawyers.

True that, then the environmental lawyers sue everyone connected, or ever going to be connected to the project, even their canine friends that were just hanging around rather doggedly.

You also forgot government interference (AKA theresa may, the UK’s dithering PM) delaying engineering matters.

The use of lower case in her name is deliberate.

What if theresa may not?

Here in the States, our government is busy trying to shut in all the power plants running on coal, so last one out, turn out the lights.

Contract is already awarded. 60% Engineering activities also completed.

Then your best bet is to shadow a Mentor who is involved with such a project. There must be someone in your area who is involved with such a thing, otherwise you wouldn't have been so curious. Pick up the phone, and talk to him/her.

First, learn how to search the internet.

You really have a lot of nerve suggesting to Lyn that he should not be on this forum.

Are you sure this your final answer? Why don't you try coming across a bit more humble, and not like the authority on the subject which you are far from being?

It does indeed sound like you are far over your head in your current employment.
