W 10 Loves You in a New and Different Way

11/02/2016 7:39 PM

Google just disclosed a major Windows bug — and Microsoft isn't ...

Russian 'Fancy Bear' hackers accused of exploiting Windows flaw ...

Remember, ALL your personal information has already been harvested by Microsoft to make the hacker's lives much simpler.

Not even a kiss afterwards. Used and tossed aside.

I can find no flash update. Any suggestions ? I don't know the current version I have offhand, but a quick check says it is current. 'Update Flashplayer' messages seem to be a common route for infection.

Unsolicited update messages are a frequent method of entry.

I completely agree about google - the privacy issues are huge. They have become a monster, and very little a person types is private. Even without Google, I assume that various agencies can trawl my search history and anything I do when connected online. As Mulder would say, 'trust nobody'. NSA have bigger fish to fry than my searches. The answer to cyber theft is to not keep all ones money in the same (internet accessed) sane place.

I don't have W10, so don't know anything about it, except it steals your personal information and sends it to MS.

I've (reluctantly) used Win 10 for several months. Despite my previous posts is has worked well so far. Clearly it's impossible to know if you have been screwed over until too late.

The days of XP are long gone, though I can't see thay my computers now do anything better. I ran chicken and did the free upgrade from Win 8.

Win 10 has a horrible interface, though it can be modified. I dislike not being able to navigate and modify the thing as I'd like. Alas, I think we are all going to get stuck with it (unless savvy enough to go Linux). I'd suggest bighting the bullet. Google is the real enemy. It's like a hungry Octopus. It may be worth looking into alternate browsers and search engines.

As ever, never type anything you would not want others to see. It can all be tracked, but I'm sure NSA have better things to do than log my porn searches .
