Periodic Elements Table Everyday Use

11/10/2016 4:45 PM

Found this interactive periodic table of elements for everyday applications /usage...even non-engineers can share and easily relate to!

Could be better shown if I only knew how to post the graphics! Sorry for that since I can only copy the link for anyone interested?

In general, you can use Windows "snipping tool" to capture what's on the screen and save it to a file. Then use the camera tool (above) to post a picture. In this case, however, it might not be a good idea as the terms of use forbids copying to another site.

Rixter -

I agree ..... I started using this old mini IPad that I inherited from my youngest, since my laptop died. Beside being small, etc., the iOS is something very different to Windows operating system! I need to get accustomed to, and be contend with.until I can replace my laptop's mother board..

thank you for your advise..

That is an excellent tool!

I'm going to send it to my 7th graders science teacher.

Thanks!

And thanks to Rixter.

If your 7th graders science teacher doesn't have it already, maybe you could start teaching the class.

Also excellent and up to date: this one has Tennessine, which was just recently named. I'd have preferred Tennesseeum but I guess that looks silly when it's written.

LOL! At least someone caught my pun before it went into the left field bleachers.

What is this obsession with Aluminium versus the American spelling of Aluminum?

I just sounds cool when Brits say it! It also conforms to the -ium ending of the named-after-something/place/person elements.

That fits well with Latin names like ferrium and stannium, as well as with molybdenium. Excuse me while I visit the vomitorium.

The recent problems with RO membrane not producing at the right A coefficient (water flux), being on very high feed pressure, being with low differential pressure between stages, is so vexing, I had thought of quitting my day job, but the clowns are already out there.

Well, they finally got the suffix spelling for Aluminium to conform to the rest of that type. I think Element 117 should be spelled Tennessium - just leave the 'e's out!

vsar, the first ref will not, and cannot go anywhere.

The second is fine. When you post, underscore the words you want by holding down mouse key to hylight and dragging. Next you left click to select 'copy'. Select the icon above that sort of looks like a camera. (it;s 7th along for images). After that, it's sort of intuitive. You paste the link in the box that pops up. Just have a go - nobody will mind if you try a few times before it clicks.

I forgot what I was going to link, so I'll just use 'this'.

There is something like 5 mins to revise a post. It gives idiots like me time to do this. I only do so to help you figure how it works. Nobody begrudges a newcomer asking 'how do I....'

vsar, some mistakes in my post, but I hope you got the general idea. Intent and content is more important than spelling and using a language that is not ones first.

I'll shut up and go see your original question !

With your permission I can edit your post, delete the URL that goes to a 403 error, and insert the URL for the chart. (Mods can do this for you.)

To insert a URL, click on the link in the ribbon above the text box. Another box will pop up where you insert the URL. Then click OK and you're good to go! Thanks again for a great post.

Re: Periodic Elements Table Everyday Use

This is fantastic -- wish I'd had this when I was in school. Of course I was in school when atomic weights were based on Oxygen 16. Not really, but my high school chemistry teacher took a course in nuclear chemistry when weights were based on Oxygen 16. When she taught us, she read us her notes and gave us the same tests she'd been given. All of her examples and the test answers were based on Oxygen 16, which meant that unless you'd managed to smuggle in an old list of atomic weights all your answers would be off. This is one reason I ended up majoring in political science and not real science.

It took a little fiddling around but I was able to download the pdf file and then select/all, copy and paste into Microsoft Paint and save it as jpeg. Had to do each page individually.
