I'd go to some forums which would have experienced surveying members. This isn't it.

You'll get only layman's opinions here, with the exception of very few who are probably too old to know the latest qualifications and requirements.

International Federation of Surveyors: FIG

National Society of Professional Surveyors

Surveyor Community Forum Discussions - Land Surveyors United

RPLS.com: Global POB Community for Geospatial Professionals

RPLS Today: News & Information for Land Surveyors and Geomatics ...

I saw the upgraded version of this guy at NECA Boston last month.

Just pick one up.. learn to use it, and put that on your resume..

You're hired! just bring the tool to work.

JE: That is like telling me I should go out and buy a new RO plant and bring it with me to work on my next job. Unless he is independently wealthy, I doubt he could buy that while unemployed, although maybe you should now loan him the money for it. You did start it this time.

As far as reading up on that model, certainly, and he can probably find the manual for it online.

My question: Are there no surveyors organizations within the other countries of the EU?

While the instrument shown is quite a nice (unit), it's price tag of some $43,000 seems a bit much to ask of someone who is currently (under-employed), doesn't it?...

OK, but exactly where are you seeking employment?...

(Bingle) it, or Call (information) and ask for who ever handles Professional Engineering and Surveying Licenses there, and ask them for help...

If in the UK, that would be those who handle Chartered Engineers and/or Surveyors...

30-some years ago, I lead one of a county's survey crews...

So, I suggest you (Bingle), or look in a local (phone book), and see who's selling surveying services near you, and just maybe, one of them is short-handed right now, and willing to hire you on...

In any case, good luck...

Being in the UK, you might have to deal with joining a Union/Guild first, so your first priority should be getting employed working in some aspect of surveying, even if it is only as a (rodman) or a (flagman)...

I started out as a brush-cutter for a national park survey project, back in the day...

Not so far back as that, I was one of several City Public Works Inspectors.

I remember one particular job done by a Contractor who had immigrated from (southern Europe). He said he had to spend the first two years here, living in a (large RCP ?) pipe... That's what he had to go through to work his way up to becoming a fully Licensed Construction Contractor.

Here's hoping your (path) will be smoother, and shorter.

In any case, good luck...
