Timer Circuit for Poultry

12/01/2016 12:09 PM

It is necessary to make a timer circuit so that it can lit few dozen CF lamps (in total 500 watts) at 04:00 hrs. and put them off at 06:30 hrs. or 07:00 hrs. (depending season of the year). In the evening it again should put them on at 05:00 or 06:30 hrs. and put them off at 08:00 hrs. Doing so, inside the house there remains a dark period of eight hours (8pm to 4 am). This 8 hr. dark period is necessary for laying hens. Waking at 04:00 hrs for putting on the switch is bothering for most of the farmers. So there can be automatic system for optimum production. At 22deg Lat. this period is always a dark period.

I have googled it and found several circuits. But many of them are based on IC 555 or 4060 and they are not so effective. Time cannot be maintained. I talked with few electronic engg. but they could not help though this is simple matter for them. I shall be highly glad if any cr-4 member can help in this issue. Thanks.

This is in the United States and Do not know what timing circuits they are using or the size requirements for you.

But these seemed to be quite effective and accurate.

I'm sure they ship over seas.

They should sell simple timers locally, but they are certainly available online....they just plug into the receptacle and then control the power via timer...

I have a electronic timer on the buildings exterior lights. Can be programed for 14 events on and 14 off per day. 30 amps inductive/resistive 24/120/208/240 VAC 60Hz.

It does not make the seasonal changes for you. You will have to do that by changing the programed times. There may be more sophisticated timers that would allow for the seasonal changes you want.

Then there are the smart bulbs. The program for them can be done on a laptop or desk top. That may allow you to program in seasonal settings.

...so it is not necessary. One can buy the things, ready-made and fir for purpose, at most good hardware stores for only a few £GBP.

Simply go and buy one of these that is for your plugs and sockets. They cost here about $1-$2 or less. You arrange the switching on and off times with the coloured pins.....:-

Would any of these timers and controllers work as a timer circuit for poultry?
