08/17/2007 6:42 AM

I wish to extrude cellulose having mixed with 2% Sulphuric acid at 160 degrees centigrades. I want Material of construction wihich will withstand corrosin as well as enough hard to withstand shear force during extrusion.

Keep some pressure applied to the extruded materials. About 5.3bar is needed to keep the mixture from flashing to steam after the extrusion point, which would be hazardous to anyone in the vicinity otherwise.

http://www.simetric.co.uk/si_steam.htm is a handy website in any Engineer's 'favourites'.

Carburize,Nitride, or Hardchrome the Extruder Barrel ID and screw OD-if you want continuous duty+ long life!

If you extrude only a few Hours/day - do not worry-wash after shift and blow hot air through.

This one<withstand shear force during extrusion> has to be as the designer fixed!.

If you are worried of abrasion, then <Carburize,Nitride, or Hardchrome> will be best.
