Face To A Screen Name

09/26/2017 5:46 PM

Seeing as Lyn started this by posting his pic in his stone repair thread, I thought it may be fun to see a pic of our members. I will not repost Lyn's pic but will post my own, taken today. Please share, if you care or dare.

Here I am as of 5:10pm est, 9/26/17 :

I found cool glasses like Lyn, but unfortunately, I have no cool hat other than camo baseball caps.

Good luck! This was attempted once before and very few dared to post their pictures. Now, since they have no chance of eclipsing our rugged good looks, this may be a fail also!

This is me a few years ago.

Maybe you holding up a card with a photo of the Sundance Kid in front of your mug!

Recent pic of me at "the farm" where we are testing the mysterious nature of carbon matrix electrolysis.

Ah, but I give credit where credit is due. You started this on your stone repair thread. Although I have seen your picture before, I wondered how many other CR4 members would share. I have been pleasantly surprised. Lot's of beards....

Yea, that is why I used a personal pic for the avatar, right out in the open but not enough detail to accurately make out.

It was the largest one I could find that they would let me drive around in.

Another one of me doing one of the things I love. That pumpkinseed was the 4th largest caught and released in 2015 for the state of Michigan. A week before, I caught the 9th largest for 2015, almost in the same spot.

Got a nice Master Angler patch to add to my collection. Just fishing with my kids.

No James, it's in the sunfish family, like a Bluegill, only smaller. But we have perch here :

That is my eldest when she was 4, that perch was 17 3/4" long, I thought I was a walleye at first.

We have these too :

King Salmon (Chinook) 34lbs, I caught in 1995, on 6 lb test with an 11' ultralight noodle rod.

That is awesome. Fishing is great anywhere around Lubbock - 250 miles in any direction. Our perch are more like your bluegills, maybe, and that salmon only comes at the fish market already cut up in chunks here. Actually, I don't think I have ever seen any Chinook salmon at the local Market Street.

We have more cold water species than you have, walleye, northern pike, steelheads, brown trout, chinook, coho, pink, atlantic salmon. This is the Great Lakes though. We both have bass, I received an award for a big smallmouth a few years back (22 1/2"), big for a smallmouth :

You guys have big striped bass, we do not.

I think soon we will have Asian carp too....

You really need to change your last name to Kirk

I have a cousin whose last name is Kirk, and he was an engineer at NASA during the golden years. His son is also an engineer (and his wife also), but neither first name is James and no middle initial T. I have been lobbying for them to name any son they have after me, but also after another cousin with initial T for the middle name.

I think they might adopt rather than go the tried and true way.

I do not like seeing the invasive striped bass, and Asian carp is a menace.

Last time I heard anything, there were some walleye in Lake Meredith up north of Amarillo. Thing is there is only one barbed wire fence between Amarillo and Minnesota.

(In other words, it gets cold there in winter, as it is above the 3600 ft elevation line.)

It has been either misting or pouring rain here all week (happens as soon as they open the gates at the South Plains Fair every year.)

Don't you mean Stihl kicking?

I see you have enough wear on the bar to have turned it over.

You look young ready for anything!

Could you tell what you were doing there? What kind of place is it that you (apparently) worked? What were you standing on? It just looks interesting.

I was only 3 years old then!

It's in the crank case of a doxford marine engine, I'm standing on the crank shaft. The hammer in hand is for doing a nut and bolt check, a nut and bolt check is going around inside the crank case and tapping all the nuts on the engine, to check that none of them have come loose during the voyage.

Wow! What an experience to have!

It's hard to imagine that size of engine. Was it an ICE? If so, what rate of rotation did it have?
