Accelerometer Data Logger - Suggestions Wanted

09/27/2017 4:29 PM

Hello,

I am looking for suggestions on a good tri-axial piezoelectric accelerometer data logging unit.

We previously used a Lansmont 3M30 Saver that stopped working after 1 year of limited use. We need to replace the unit and we do not want to do business with Lansmont as their product support was terrible. Any technical question was answered with a quote to send the unit back for "calibration and repair".

Required specs as follows:

anything over 20g/ push button start/ rechargeable battery/ ability to take 500-1000 samples per second.

Desired specs as follows:

on unit display/ wireless connectivity

If anyone knows a good supplier they could recommend that would be great.

Thanks in advance!

jj

Here's something:

https://www.mide.com/collections/shock-vibration-data-loggers?utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=slam-stick-usa&utm_content=accelerometer-data-logger&ads_cmpid=441486689&ads_adid=29471554289&ads_matchtype=b&ads_network=g&ads_creative=192003675482&utm_term=%2Baccelerometer&ads_targetid=kwd-21114639912&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&ttv=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIta6htPKs1QIVFzaBCh2frgZSEAAYASAAEgIUWvD_BwE

Now that's a long URL

Here is a "blurb" on one of the offered modules:

The Slam Stick C incorporates a DC response tri-axial accelerometer, temperature sensor, pressure sensor, and data acquisition system into one, easy-to-use product. Its ability to measure up to 16 g or 200g, its fast sampling rates (up to 3.2 kHz), long battery life (over 20 hours), large memory (up to 4 billion samples), and small, portable form factor make it ideal for many vibration measurement and impact testing applications.

Here's the URL for the datasheet: http://info.mide.com/hubfs/slam-stick-vibration-data-loggers-datasheet.pdf?hsCtaTracking=c32024f3-178f-4f3b-bbf1-6ec4d131432f%7Cbba56a47-81d6-4103-a678-76dc75b24772

Thanks Mikerho!

That link is inconceivable.

I'll dig a little deeper into the slam stick.

Thanks again!

That's what we do.

Glad to help!

Inconceivable . You got the reference! Ha ha!

Here's to finding a quick and even better solution!

Oh, and BTW, I have no affiliation with that company; I just found it in the process of searching the solution to a similar problem.

For additional option that would be cheaper in upfront cost, but require significantly more setup...

Nintendo sells the Wii remote with 3 axis accelerometer ....even with the additional 3 axis angular rate sensor it comes to around $20. It is alread wireless ready.

Check this out.

I would not expect any support from Nintendo.

Definitely not.

Still, suggestions were requested. A suggestion was provided.

The names in vibration that I am familiar with is Endevco and PCB Piezotronics. I believe both would have a solution.

Bentley-Nevada comes to mind, am I right?

Their product seems aimed at prime mover market, such as gas turbine generators.

I doubt they could handle the 20 g acceleration requested, but I have not shopped them of late.
