They look just like the blobs of snow and ice that are usually on my deck this time of year. Or am I missing something?

Focus on the round clear things.

OK, if the round clear things are not frozen circles of water, aka ice, then you should give us more information.

I think they're actually invisible owl poo. IOP can appear visible after three to five days after dropping but only in a frozen climate.

We have a winner! Zero degrees outside this morning and I had the bottle of "bubbles soap" nice and cold before experimenting. It was strange watching them land on the deck and not pop!

Hasselflugger bob tobbers, or soap bubbles frozen with the rapid decline in temperature.

Okay -you got your answer, now, when are you going to refinish that deck? That is way over due for a new coat of preservative and stain, or, the new deck coat paints which work very good.

That deck looks so much like our deck -- including icy things that look like melted bubbles -- I did a double-take. Guess our deck needs refinishing too. Maybe that'll be the next thread: the best way to refinish a wooden deck.

I used the deck finish paint advertised by the large building supply chain the last time I re-finished, and it has lasted very well. It takes quite a bit more to do the job, both in cost and cans of material, because it is so thick, but definitely worth it. Even using a shovel on the deck in winter doesn't seem to hurt it.

Broken icicles and patches of sleet/snow. That appears unusual for California, alright.

Only after reading further in the thread, did I learn they are alien sneezes, frozen as they fell to the ground. Frozen alien boogers, wow! You should preserve those.

X files wants a sample. By the way, you actually do walk out and stand on that deck? How far is it above the ground? Just saying....

Pay no attention to those snooty ones who are deriding your deck.

It's looks like it has aged gracefully, with a certain quaint patina, as has the owner.

Jeez, you invite people onto your deck and, right away, they start complaining about it.

No hot chocolate for them.

If you are like me living in the far southern regions of the US they are alien invaders from the inhospitable lands and should be sent back to the frozen hell they came from.

Looks like my kitchen floor after I Artexed the ceiling - but from reading all replies to date - I can only just make out the bubbles from the picture.

Hey, that's really cool. I went out this morning with a bottle of bubble soap to try it myself. On some of the bubbles that popped in the air, the skin stayed intact and continued to float in the air, still thin enough that I could see the interference colors in the film.
