Looking to Design a Simple Convergent Fire-Fighting Nozzle

09/20/2007 6:10 AM

I want to design a simple convergent nozzle for fire fighting application to spray water on ships. What is design procedure to calculate the nozzle dimensions as per requirement? Is there any specific book in which I can find this information?

Blimey! What's wrong with using those already on the market? Dirt cheap and compliant with all the current Standards....

A simple convergent nozzle is just that: Simple. It's cone shaped. More sophisticated ones have a short, straight section at the small end, and the end is typically radiused (or at least chamfered) to eliminate a sharp edge at the exit.
