In the same way as prestressed concrete is made - stretch it, surely?

Place beams perpendicular to the bridge, one at each end and brace. A''''''''''''''A Depending on the length of the perpendicular beams, will determine your leverage and overall stress on the bridge when pulling the two perpendiculars together with cable and say a large turnbuckle.
