I don't know the model and make of your machine therefore the info is of general application.

there are a lot of settings that is optimized for each part or run. The card is there to save the settings and you could repeat a run at a later stage without having to punch in all the data.

It is usually best to have a card for each part.

With modern memory technology the card may contain a directory structure and it may be possible to have more than one setup on the same card.

Dear Guest,

I think that the injection moulding machine which you have, could be PLC(Programable Logic Control) controlled one. The PLC's having basically

1. Power supply card

The power supply card supplies power(generally of 24Volts) to all cards, sensors etc.,

2. CPU card

This card process the signals of input card (according to the program loaded) and sends the processed signal to output card

3. Input card

It receives signals from sensors, proximity switches, limit switches, etc.,

4. Output card

Receives signal from cpu sends to appropriate outputs like Solinoids, indicating lamps, alarms, etc.,
