Bus Coupler Requirements in a Switchyard

05/08/2008 5:32 AM

Hello All,

There is a existing 400kV switchyard and a new 400kV switchyard is proposed which will be connected through the existing switchyard through busbar extension. Please clarify following.

1. Whether any lighting arrester is required.

2. Whether bus coupler is required in the new switchyard. This new switchayard is proposed to be connected with the 765kV switchyard through interconnecting transformer and station transformer for the start up power of the generating station. The start up power shall be arranged from existing switchyard.

Looking for your quick responses.

Regards

Manish

Hello ahuja4

I was aware the location was probably in India.

India is a large sub-continent, presently trying to push itself under Asia, and creating the Himalaya Mountains in that process.

The climate conditions across India are extremely varied.

Details of the actual site location is needed to establish the lightning-days and strike statistics in the location of the substation.

Please reply, with
