Voltage Regulator

05/12/2008 5:46 AM

Where would I find a 36v/4.2a power regulator? I want to use a regenetive speed controller which will try to send power back to the battery, only in this case the battery is a power supply so will wreck it. Need something to absorb the extra power...

You need a resistor, you do. Somewhere around 9 ohms (36V/4A), and about 500W (36v * 4A *4A) should do the trick. You can probably buy such a resistor, or one could be made from a length of nichrome wire wound around a suitable (ceramic) former.

Indeed. The original poster could make one by partially dismantling a radiant electric fire element, perhaps?
