What Happened to the Safety Electrical Equipment Corporation?

05/15/2008 8:03 AM

Currently I'm working on a project for refurbishing the Light Rail Vehicle for the Cleveland Transit Authority. The HVAC system is early 80's vintage. OEM is Safety Electrical Equipment Corporation, New Haven, CT. I have searched the net extensively to find this company or the company which bought them, with no avail. I need parts for the controller. Is there a company I can contact?

Thanks

Try contacting the Chamber of Commerce in New Haven, CT. They may be able to tell you what happened to them or who bought them out.

Safety Electrical Equipment is Star Electric from my research. At least the government has them categorized as the same vendor. A quick google of Star in New Haven produces a couple different companies, but at least you have a start.

Good Luck,

Dave

You may need to upgrade for the future. Contact Mainstream Engineering Corporation http://www.mainstream-engr.com/ for a consultation to improve or replace your current system with more energy effiecient and compliant HVAC. I am not associated with them but was impressed with what they are doing to support our troops.

Safety Electrical Equipment Corp. moved to one of the Carolinas in the late 1980's.

I was working for them in Wallingford, CT when they moved. I have heard a rumor that they were purchased by a Japanese company, but have no actual knowledge of this.

I work for SEPTA and had the same question. I found a listing that is a dead end:
STONE SAFETY CORP.
111 S. Chase Blvd.
Fountain Inn, SC 29644-9018

Phone : (864) 862-1360
You might see if they were acquired by WABTEC
