Have you looked at automotive battery chargers?

Inexpensive and readily available but very high ripple.

What are you powering?

You will find one at marine or boating store used to run 12 volt DC boat systems while at dock off of 120 volt AC hook ups. You can all so find them at industrial supply houses 12 volt power supplies.

Places that sell ICOM transcievers generally sell power supplies. You might want to google ASTRON they make a large selection of linear and switching power supplies with and with out meters some are also adjustable. For the record most 12 volt ham radio gear actually requires 13.8 volts.

Try your friendly ham radio dealer.

My recommendation would be to only go linear, as switching types can result in unwanted receiver noise. Astron mfr's nice power supplies and at reasonable prices. I don't recall if they have a fixed 13.8V line, but they do have metered and adjustable. If you order just a 12V type, you would be inclined to open it up and adjust it to 13.8VDC, but would void the warranty.

Might save some $$ on eBay.

Astron makes a whole line of power supplies intended for the ham radio market which put out 13.8 volts. I have one sitting here on my desk with nice meters on it and everything. It is a linear supply so it is heavy but it works very well. I would recommend that you look up the Astron website by doing a Google on the name.

A battery charger and a 12 volt lead cell battery. You can even find gel cells in that range.

If you need a precision supply -then Google - there are a very large number of suppliers.

Even though you seem to be "wasting" all the other outputs, a PC supply is probably the cheapest way: you may need to supply a control signal back from an imaginary motherboard:-
