copper silver ions by PV route

05/25/2008 7:43 AM

How can Copper silver ions be produced and used for water disinfection by using PV route?" Will this be the most energy efficient way to disinfect water?

Copper is usually dosed as copper sulfate. Silver is normally applied through direct contact between the pathogens and a micronic silver filter.

chlorine = cheapest. Hyrdogen peroxide = safest

Copper silver ions are being conceived to be promoted as ecofriendly ,organic, green technology alternative feasible options . Chlorine- Copper Sulfate routes are feasible but less ecofriendly.

Hi,

I don't know what is a "PV route" please tell me!

I would use copper tubing or large copper surfaces and add some current to dissolve the right amount if natural dissolution (very much depending on pH) is not enough.

Same with silver but at a different location and also pure metallic sheet as the voltage for dissolution is likely to be differnt.

For drinking water preparation I would clearly prefer hydrogen-peroxide.

Or oure silver. This is also available as tablets for outdoor freaks and military.

This is pretty common for swimming pools. I believe that this device uses copper and silver, but they don't specifically say:

If you Google "pool ionizer" you will see more.

It also is economical to generate sodium hypochlorite by the electrolysis of salt water (sodium chloride). They also make these devices for pools.

Bear in mind that there are a number of scams involving silver, silver-copper-ions, colloidal silver etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colloidal_silver

some risks, you can get very dark blue-black skin that is permanent.

drill down some of the references above, esp
