I need atmospheric air solubility data in a compressed water chamber

Dear chemists and enginners,

Can any body please provide me (or show me ) a table relating the rate of air solubility inside a compressed water chamber, as for example, the pressure of 10,000 kpa would dissolve how much of air into the liquid water ? Thanks.

Is this air over water compression chamber?

An accumulator? Most accumlator have a seperater between the air and the water.

Air is a mixture. Mostly oxygen and nitrogen. They have different solubilities.

The answer may depend on why you want to know. If you are interested in the volume "missing" the answer may be different than if you want the composition of the gas released when decompressed, heated or changed.

Henry's law is a good starting point as suggested.

Treating air as one chemical could lead to bad results.

Please restate with more details.

I can do better than that!

Assuming you mean mass dissolved from an atmosphere of ordinary air - for a temperature range T = 0 - 30°C, at 1 bar absolute (100 kPa) air pressure, in fresh water, gm/m3 solubility of oxygen = 468/(31.6 + T) and solubility of nitrogen = 852.6/(36.2 + T). Total solubility = sum of these.

For pressure P bara, solubility according to Henry's law varies directly with P. I'm not sure how well this applies for pressure of 100bar, but I doubt if it's far out, if anything likely to be a bit less. If necessary, you can convert to air volume at actual or any other conditions per m3 water.

The above is easier to use than the stuff on the wiki site as it avoids mole fractions, molecular wts etc and gives the answer direct. Also temperature variation is easier to handle. Maybe the wiki approach (to temp) is necessary if dealing with less common gases and liquids, but for oxygen, nitrogen and water solubility and its temp dependence are well established and above formulas use it direct.

Trust this helps, also got similar data for sea water if you need it.
