There was artlicle in India, where one Chemist/Biologist/Scientist was using used vehicle tires to convert into fuel.

The Lafarge cement plant in Cementon, Pennsylvania has been doing that for a few years, as well as burning tires.

I believe that a local cement plant went through a phase where they rolled a few tires through the cement kilns to add some fuel to the fire and save some natural gas.

The plant I am referring to has been doing it for at least seven years and as I understand, almost 25% of the energy to heat the kiln comes from the burning of tires, at least that was the figure a few years ago during an open house. They keep it at that level so as not to rely on the availability of tires. The cost of used tires is going up, believe it or not, along with the cost of transporting them.

In the past couple of years they have been using waste plastics, butter tubs and that type of plastic. They can't burn all types.

One of the engineers involved is a relative.

In answer to your question:

1. If you are looking for patented information regarding the recycling of plastics, you can find a lot of that via standard search engines on your computer as well as following leads kindly supplied by the various persons who were able to give them to you.

2. If you are looking for unpatented information, which would potentially be extremely valuable about converting used plastic to fuel using some chemical process, you would be unlikely to get such information just for the asking, since developers of new technologies rightfully guard their inventions closely. Such technology might include some sort of reactor that utlizes the connectivity --or disconnectivity-- of chain molecular structures to produce an energy source; or some such method of directly converting the existing properties of plastics into an energy source.

3. The idea of converting used plastic products into an energy source is inefficient. Theoretically, given the current state of the art, you would require an energy source to do the conversion so you could use the eventual plastic derivative as an energy source, thus making the process energy intensive.

Given the advancement of current plastics technology, the response to your question might be to develop more efficient energy transmission via plastic conduits.

But more likely, it is simply "burn the plastic" (as efficiently as possible) and harvest the heat energy, followed immediately by "develop a technology to subsequently neutralize or make useful the resulting harmful products of combustion".

The reason why my question I broght forward was mostly influenced to see

a chemist in China is doing the same thing since last several years and

a couple of years back, there was a news appeared in KUWAIT TIMES

of his technology so secret though.
