Is email making us dumber?

A new report from New Scientist says that too much e-mail, calls and IMs can shave as much as 10 IQ points off of workers.
I guess the question is, are we all becoming the next generation of info-junkies. Also what can engineers do to reduce this "out of bandwidth" noise?
