Intelligent Flooded Lead acid battery Charging is to bring it to full charge from Discharge condition or at least from 80% discharged condition. Such battery cycling for Inverter application has stratification of sulphuric acid progressively and after few cycles gets below 50% of its capacity. This is by constant voltage charging and say for a 12 V battery by a 14.2V charger. One can charge by using a constant current charging ,but the circuit must know when to shift from constant current to final constant voltage mode. This is because the discharge is not same all the time. It can surely delay the process of stratification ( that is highest gravity at bottom and lowest gravity at top. If a battery is overcharged, then finally there is bubble of oxygen/hydrogen and as it moves up the liquid, the stratification is greatly neutralized. But overcharging causes harm to the battery and flat plate battery soon fails as bonding between grid and electrolyte becomes loosened. For Tubular positive plate this action is not so damaging. My question is by what means of charging ( or may be discharging) a battery, the stratification of electrolyte can be prevented. One possible way is warming up the bottom layers of electrolyte,so that by natural convection stratification is prevented. Any electronic solution?
