Can any one Plz explain whats meant by Crack and Keygen/Seed and leechers in Software.

Crack: a program that has been modified so you don't have to pay for registering it from the maker.

Keygen: an application that looks into the registration coding for a program and generates a software key.

BOTH of these are illegal, and considered outright thievery.

Seeder: someone that uploads files through file sharing programs, usually through a bittorrent client.

Leecher: someone that downloads files through file sharing programs.

Just the verify, Crack and Key-Gen are illegal doorways into programs that have been locked by the manufacturer, so after a certain date they become cripple-ware.

Example, Paint Shop Pro, Up until 4.12, you got a annoying screen saying how many days your using this software without paying for it, after that release, you either paid for the software (which you should do) or erased it from your system, or (illegal) get a crack (bypassing the security) or a Key-gen (generation of a alternative registration code)

Now, Seeders and Leachers, are not generally illegal.

Used in the P2P world, where Bittorrent and the other software programs live, you can download legal programs like Linux distro's (this is what I use P2P for)

But in the hunt for a movie (illegal) you don't always get what your after, after trying it, and downloading a file that was supposed to be a new release, I found upon opening the file, it was a progression of /null, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 all the way up to 1.2G albiet 1.2G of trash, and it had been downloaded 500+ times (ARGHHHHhhhhh)

Or a nice program your after is actually the latest virus renamed to that file.

Please do not use software illegally, if that is your intention with this question.

CR4 should not be degraded in this manner and it could be that you may be disciplined by CR4 for this......

This is a fully legal blog that intends to remain so......

If illegal actions are your Forte, there are more than enough other web sites around the world for such actions.....without trying to do it here.....

please do not use Illegal programs.

If it is a browser you want there are plenty on-line for free!. Download what you think is Windows could be something else entirely and just not work and totally screw up your computer.

BE WARNED!!!!! No matter what the file says it is, in fact you have no way of seeing whatever the file is you are downloading.

you try reading a little bit more carefully what is written in this Blog. Your comments would have been better addressed to the originator rather than myself.

I am against using software illegally, there are enough freeware programs around for those with little money......

"Speed reading" by the way, is only good if you can at the same time "Speed understand fully" Babybear, try slowing down and re-reading!!!

I am friends still with everyone, even the ones I might someday argue with, as I have always learnt well from a good argument!! Its also a lot of fun and need not get below the belt!!

There are many open source software solutions out there. By getting involved and helping, you'll not only have a direct inflence on the developement but also become friends with people that can give you the support you need. Without much more than a brief read-around on the web in the I've found better open source solutions for probably 3/4 of what I would ever want to do! This sure beats filling your computer with crippled demos that you can't ever remove properly or forking out 20-100 bucks a pop to have a unflexible program. My personal favorite for now is caelinux...a whole operating system that is based on mechanical analysis! If there's something in particular you're trying to accomplish, feel free to use one of the many open source software forums and see what people are up to.
