Pressure Transducer - Resistor type?

07/23/2008 10:55 AM

I am designing a unit where I need to monitor air pressure from 0-1 bar. This information will be fed to a micro controller. The ideal input to the micro, is a variable resistance and whilst this type of transducer is available for temperature, light etc. I can't find one for pressure. Not only are the available pressure transducers expensive and output to a Wheatstone Bridge, they require additional circuitry for input into a micro. Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone know if a car oil pressure sender is resistive?

Perhaps you can find what your looking for here:

http://www.emersonprocess.com/Rosemount/products/Pressure/index.html

I use these in a simular range with a 4-20ma output, that most controllers can handle.

Sensirion.com (Swiss) do ones with SPI and RS232 outputs...

along with loads of other sensors...

Try Endress + Hauser and Platon FLowbits (usual disclaimer).

There are brige type sensors those suit with your need. Look at these links..

www.sensortechnics.com (type: scc30)

www.smartec.nl (type: SPD015G)
