07/25/2008 9:11 AM

I need to rotate a lever in one department for 90 degrees from another department. Can someons suggest what is the easiest way of creating an electricali driven mechanisam for this purpose.

Please be more specific about what you need.

Any chance you could provide a sketch?

Do you need proportional control, or "bang-bang"?

What torque is needed to rotate the lever?

Rotating a knob or dial-type control is obvious, pulling or pushing a lever is obvious, but I'm having trouble with "rotating a lever".

I need to be able to pull down the handle and pull up again. Its a 40cm long handle and i dont need proportional control.

Sounds like Hendrik's suggestion (in #7) of a Bowden cable (with spring return, or two cables depending on the operating force needed) would be the simplest solution.

How fast do you need to turn the lever? How much force does it take to move the lever. What type of environment is it in? Why is the lever being turned?

have a look at automatic controls of butterfly valves. That would be good for 90deg.

You can also have a look at stepper motors.

The other option could be to go mechanical. A cables between the 2 might just work.

Please give more detail (the grey stuff works better if more info is known)

There are geared micro motors from many brands. Surely one of them suits your need.

Search globalspec for motion-controls...
