The RTD is nothing but a resistor which varies according to the variation in temperature. The most commonly used RTD is PT100 & it is simply a two legged device. It can be used as three wire sensor in which one wire is connected to one lead and the other two are shorted & connected to the other lead. The leads must be insulated properly.Tefflon insulated wires are used commonly. The sensor now can be placed in a metal tube with one end closed and must be filled with Magnessium oxide light powder. the sensor can be connected in a wheatstone's bridge as its one arm and its output can be processed. The third wire(shorted)connected to the ground.
