Externally controlled bleed or controlled extraction?

08/26/2008 8:01 PM

Anyone knows the advantages or disadvantages of use a externally controlled steam bleed, instead of a internally controlled extraction?

We are purchasing a turbo-generator set, with a double extraction turbine, and have recieved proposals with both kind of steam extractions refered above.

Thank you all in advance for the answers.

The best people to discuss these things with are the vendors.

What exactly are these extractions used for? Heating Feedwater? External process?

If it is for heating feedwater, the extraction required is probably regulated best by the feedwater requirements themselves, rather than a control valve. I guess I would need to know more about your cycle. Can you explain what the extractions are used for?

The extractions are used for external process. The turbine steam conditions are as follow:

- Inlet: 120 kgf/cm2g @ 520 Celsius

- First Extraction: 42 kgf/cm2g @ 360 Celsius

- Second Extraction: 17 kgf/cm2g @ 250 Celsius

- Exhaust: Condensing

- Driven equipment: 50,000 kW Generator

Thank you for your attention
