Pretty vague question--

Current transformers and an overload relay.

Current transformers and an analog input card for a PLC.

Current transformers and a digital or analog readout.

???? What is it that you want to do????

Try using Hall effect transducers there is a massive range covering AC & DC from milliamps to hundreds of amps.

Also current shunts will give you millivolt output for a given amount of amps passing through them.

For a precise measurement of DC current, I use a current shunt.
