Hewlitt Packard Junk

11/14/2008 10:43 AM

I bought a HP Slimline and after having the motherboard replaced by HP on warranty, they sent the PC back and now my monitor claims it is not getting a signal. This seems to be an intermittent problem, I have double checked the connection, turned off the power, held the computer switch off, but no screen. Is this necessarily a connection or could it be some further degradation of the harddrive again? I have Vista home premium, which I do not like, but it is what is (a piece of ----).

Anyone can tell me how to repair/get a picture without sending the entire thing back to HP?

Try out to replace cable or check your cable out on another PC for sure it's ok.

If it has only one ¨choke" (thicker part in cable) try and flip the cable around, I have seen it solve the problem,

I had bad experience with HP printer some times it does not print at all. It all because these products are now "Made IN China". HP is not bothered to keep its reputation.

  1. Prepare all the backs you need,
  2. Erase the Vista.
  3. Install Windows XP pro.

All will be well now.

The Vista is what you refer to as (----)

HP is not HP anymore. It's only a name...

Ever since HP tried to re-invent itself as a computer company, it has produced product of limited value for any but the least-discerning consumer. Their purchase of Compaq computer is indicative of what they consider a "quality" product. I no longer touch ANYTHING with the HP name on it, although once upon a time, the mention of the HP brand was sufficient to get my mouth watering...

Dump the HP and buy a Lenovo, who are at least HONEST about making their product in China, or a Toshiba. If you suffer from financial limitations, even an Acer will out-perform an HP.

Did your monitor show a no signal message or is this facility not available on your monitor ? Possibly your monitor has the intermittent fault not your PC.

I did see a no signal available message, in color, which made me believe it was not the monitor per se, that is it did produce a good color message...

I still have several months on my 2 year HP warranty so i'll keep monitoring --pun accidental.
