heater wattage

how to ascertain heater wattage be it tubular or flat. Vendors usually stamp the rating on the outer side but how to cross check the accuracy.

Heaters are almost completely resistive, so you have only to measure the rms Voltage and current after the temperature is stable under approximate realistic operating conditions. Then just multiply V*I.
