The simple answer is in regular maintenance. Go to start Internet options and delete temporary Internet files / cookies / all off-line files. Go to start / computer / R clk each hard drive one at a time and then select properties / disk clean-up/ follow the directions and clk OK, be patient this may take some time. Go to start / R clk computer and select advanced / properties/ advanced / under performance select settings / reduce the size of virtual memory to about 289MB and apply. Go to start / accessories / system tools / system restore / settings / reduce space used to least allowable - apply / restart.

Go to start / accessories / system tools / defrag, this may take some time / restart. The repeat defrag process until the time period to accomplish is reduced to about 2 minutes or less; 30 seconds is optimal. Defrag weekly and perform related procedures monthly.

I use Ccleaner instead of windows utilities. Its easier and deletes way more unnecessary logs than windows does.

install and run the cleaner. Then the Registry scan. Fix the selected issues and it will prompt if you want to back up. I recommend backing up to be safe. Keep running the Registry scan till it quits finding problems and your done. Your computer will run alot faster. You should defrag as well.

If your download speed doesn't increase try renewing your IP address. Go to Start-Run and type CMD then Enter. In the black screen type "ipconfig /release" (notice the space in between) then press enter. Then type ipconfig /renew hit enter and it will renew you with a new IP address and alot of times increases speed, not to mention if someone is/has been hacking you they will now not be able to see you anymore.

There are other things to do that help as well but I dont want to write a book. Use Google but always read about programs on several different sites so you know that your not downloading and installing a virus yourself!

Oh, almost forgot. In the right hand side of the task bar by the clock right click the picture of the two monitors and select repair. This will flush your DNS and various other things that also help internet connections.
