Mechanical Efficiency of Tandem Truck Transmission

01/29/2009 3:49 PM

Does anyone know the mechanical efficiency of a standard over-the-road tandem axle truck transmission from engine flywheel to the road? This would be in high gear.

As a rough guess, I'd say that in high gear the flywheel to rim efficiency is about 95%. The tire rolling resistance will be about .010 of the weight applied.
