Friction screw presses

What is the application difference between FRICTION SCREW PRESS - DOWN STROKE and UPSTROKE .I would like to forge M36mm x 200mm hex head bolt.Which press i choose.How can i calculate the capacity reqd to forge this components? by cold or hot forging
