What CR4 Mechanism Exists to Merge Threads?

03/07/2009 9:33 PM

Sometimes there are Threads so close together in content that I feel they may as well be merged. One case now is How Healthy is your Drinking Water, and Water Treatment Bucket Systems.

Is there a CR4 way to merge Threads?

If not, do other members think in some cases it would be appropriate to do so? In the case of the Blog, How Healthy is your Drinking Water, I was prompted to ask about the Water Treatment Bucket Systems, figuring someone would remember what I had forgotten.

Garthh remembered.

One good way is to post a reference to the other thread, in each related thread.

I knew that. Thanks though for the advice.

You said it trans. I would like to GA for your thread, but there is no such provision. Administrator should generate GT system (Good Thread)

Actually there is. Take a look just above the first post in the thread. You'll see a group of three boxes - "Subscribe", "Rate this" and "Comments". Click the "Rate This" button and you'll be able to give the thread from 1 (poor) to 5 (Excellent) stars.

So Rate this is the best so far way to merge Threads and Blogs.

I had suspected that CR4 did have something approximating thread and blog linkage, for it truly has proved to be a very well designed site.

I very much appreciate your dropping in Chris, and will attempt to use the process you have recommended in the future.

At this time, we don't have a mechanism in place other than to recode the threads. It's not exactly laborious, but it's not trivial either from a resource standpoint. Crosslinking as gigaconcept.com suggested is the best way to go at this point.

Cross linking would hopefully not lead to cross posting...

Perhaps a set of keywords or categories could be defined in order to link discussions. Not to increase the administrative burden, these could be voted on by thread participants the same way we vote on posting relevance.
