How to Carbonate Water

11/11/2006 12:50 AM

I've been working on different methods to carbonate water for the manufacturing of softdrinks. Does anyone know the most up to date method being used, and has anyone tried altering the polarities of the gas and or the water to gain better abosorbtion rates? Obviously flow rate, temperature, pressure and surface area are factors, are there any others?

is your question with reference to pre-mix or post-mix carbonation?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Predominatly premix for micro bottling, but the process of blending the syryps with the soda water for post mix are also very inefficient. I'm looking at a smaller bottling system that will produce +/- 2000l a day. Have you any ideas an making the process more stable and efficient?

Many Thanks

It's just an idea, but with the ever growing trend towards 'Natural' ingredients and 'Old Style' recipes, have you ever thought about naturally fermented soft drinks?

Natural fermentation makes so much CO2 you might be able to plumb the gas to fizz up your regular product? 2000 litres/day would not require too much expensive equipment. What is Gnome Soda? I have just been surfing the net, and my mouth is starting to water. I know nudda, and am no expert, but did they ever use Oak Barrels to ferment ginger and root beers back in 'those thar olden days'? 30 US Gallons is 113 litres. I wonder what pressure they could stand?

Dry Ice.
Cap.

Leave off the 'cap' and have a 'Spooky' Halloween Party, Dress Up in a Dracula Outfit and lay in a Coffin. have the creepy mist float about the floor. Make cocktails in Glass Pyrex Beakers.....in weird colours....foaming and steaming.....Dr. Jeckle-n-Hyde fashion. Cool!
